How to scan long documents

- Load only one document at a time.
- Long paper is available for scanning at resolutions below 300 x 300 dpi.
- Long paper is not available for 2-sided scanning.
- Make sure documents with ink or correction fluid are completely dry.

1. Gently adjust the Paper Guides (1) to fit the width of your document.

2. Slide the Feed Selector button to the left and confirm that it is in ADF (Automatic Document Feeder) Mode.

3. Place your document, face down, top edge first in the ADF between the paper guides until you feel it touch the inside of the machine. Feed thin pages slowly and carefully to keep the edge from folding.

4. Be sure to support the document with your hand if it's longer than the extended ADF, to prevent a document jam.

5. Open Brother iPrint&Scan :

- Windows Users: Double-click on (Brother iPrint&Scan) .

- Macintosh Users: Browse to Go → Applications → Brother iPrint&Scan .

6. The program will search for your machine.

If your machine is not automatically found, make sure that it is turned on and connected either to the computer or network (depending on your machine's specifications). You may click Select your Machine to search again. Choose the USB tab or Network tab based on how your machine is connected.

8. From the Document Size dropdown, choose Long Paper (Narrow Width) or Long Paper (Normal Width) .

9. Configure any other desired scan settings. Click All Settings for additional settings.

The available settings will vary based on your machine's specifications.

11. Once the scan is complete, the results will appear.

- Click Add Pages , if you want to scan additional pages, and follow the instructions.

- (Windows Users Only) If you want to rotate a document, hover your mouse over the scan's thumbnail and use the rotate arrows that appear.

- You can use to change the display size of the scanned thumbnails.

12. Choose one of the following options to complete the scan:

Save to PC - Saves the file to your computer

To save multiple pages into a single file, be sure to select a .PDF "File Type".

Click Settings to configure additional file type options, which will vary based on the selected file type.

To change the destination folder for your saved scans, click Select folder .

To save the document into an editable format (OCR), choose Text or RTF as the "File Type".

For PDF documents, you may click Settings , and configure the type of PDF file (e.g. Searchable PDF, Secure PDF, etc.)
